A family of sculptures that combines industrial parts, motifs, and aesthetics—searching for a simple, elegant gesture. The installation is the culmination of over a year of work exploring ways to find simple and unpredictable forms by drawing in three-dimensions. Each sculpture’s main material, and focus, is half-inch black plastic strapping normally unseen and unappreciated but highly utilized in our contemporary lives. Combined with other materials and forms found in our contemporary lives: plexiglass, rapid-prototyping plastics, and industrial microelectronic components: this work creates an absurdly complex mechanism for a simple gesture and non-sensical purpose.
