These environmental art instruments utilize a buzzer and RGB LED to describe varying conditions and faults. These examples help explain normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions. Please contact the UMD Art Gallery, or the artist—Joshua Prince—if you are concerned or need assistance.
Modes & Indications
Normal
During normal operation there should be a steady green pulse.
Battery Mode
Each sensor has a backup battery in-case it looses power. When it switches to battery power, the LED will pulse between green and amber. There will also be a periodic error chirp every 5 minutes.
If you notice this condition please reach out so we can restore the sensor back to full health.
Fault
If there is a fault other than running on battery power, the LED will pulse yellow or amber. Yellow indicates 1x faults, amber indicates > 1x faults. There will also be periodic error chirps every 5 minutes.
If you notice this condition please reach out so we can restore the sensor back to full health.
Unauthorized Movement
If the sensor is moved from its initial installation location without the supervision of the UMD Art Gallery, it will trigger a potential theft alarm. This siren can only be disarmed by authorized personnel.
If you notice this condition please contact us promptly for resolution.
